• Review:: 'Excellent book for a beginer working with young people 1. Easey to follow. 2.Clear objectives. 3.Very Constructive.
• Review:: '104 Activities that Build Teamwork I give quarterly supervisor training meetings with about 10 supervisors from our division. I use the activities in this book to help build communications and teamwork with the supervisors.
• Review:: 'Creative Ideas I selected this book in order to complete a required communications class assignment that I am presently enrolled in. The title of the book caught my attention. I am an Assessment Coordinator and I work with approximately 10 to 20 individuals at a time with a new group every three weeks. Several of the issues that I need to address that are a major concern with our clients are covered in Alanna Jone's book. These are issues dealing with self-esteem, communication, anger management, self discovery and coping skills. As instructors and parents we often find ourselves in situations where people are resistant to learning. The many reasons for this vary. Some of the first activities I used from Alanna book were the Creative Coloring, the Good, Bad and Ugly and Create a country activities. The activities gave individuals an opportunity to make their oun choices, to support and encourage one another and to empower each other to succeed. Sometimes it can be very difficult to get our clients to participate. These activities helped the most introverted members of our groups blossom. The activities were successful in that they helped the clients to discuss personal issues that were holding them back from succeeding and moving forward. The activities helped individuals who do not like to participate to feel more a part of the group and not so alone. After working with our clients and using some of the activities in the book we can see improvement in the areas of concern mentioned above. The activities can be altered to fit the needs and concerns of each unique group. Alanna's book provided yet another powerful resource of creative ideas and activities to help our clients grow. I would recommend this book not only because it has many useful ideas and activities, but because it will spark your creativity to develop even more as well.
• Review:: 'Excellent Resource I use this book all the time for an after school program. I have K-5 students all in the same program. I modify some of the activities, but it really helps build a community within the group. It also allows for those students who need to find a voice, or just do not want to particpate have an opportunity without feeling offended, distracted, or felt like they were being made to do something. It has a wide variety of activities for all sorts of issues children face, but do not know really what the issues are they are facing. Once you have it you will use it often!
• Review:: 'Great activities This book has great activities with great debriefs. The book is written in a simple to use style with clear directives on how to conduct each activity. The activities are easily modified to fit different age groups and teaching points. As a trainer/educator I enjoyed using the activities and am glad to have this book in my bag of tricks.

• Review:: 'Low Quality Printing and Poor Examples This text was published on the cheap. Be forewarned that even the condensation from a glass of ice water, transferred by your hand to the page, can cause a paragraph of text to run easily. The binding is also not well constructed. I would have preferred an electronic edition of this book due to the sheerly poor nature of its print quality. As for the text itself, it is often contradictory and perpetuates myths that have long been debunked in the business world. In one of my favorite examples, the book praises organizational planning and rigid structure, referring to systems that sound like communist five year plans; the book then proceeds to upend its argument by touting that Steve Jobs and Apple Computer have been successful not just in spite of organization structure but rather because they have turned the old concepts upside-down. Some would say this simply shows the book being fair and balanced. Unfortunately, many times it simply comes off somewhere between pedantic and silly.
• Review:: 'Excellent Introducton to Management The book covers all the basics. It's easy to read, and keeps your attention.
• Review:: 'Review of Fundamentals of Management I used this text book in an Introduction to Management course in College. I felt that the text did a great job explaining the different concepts and functions of management. The examples made it easy to understand. I also felt that the exhibits were very helpful and easy to understand. The tables and diagrams were all easy to interrupt. I also found the end of the chapter summaries very useful. I would reccomend this book to anyone who has an interest in understanding the basic fundamentals of management.
• Review:: 'Book Review I found this book to be very informative and helpful as an introductory management text. The order of the book was clear and precise with smooth transistions between concepts. I appreciated the use of relevent stories to follow the concepts and also the Ethical Dilemmas in Management. They forced me to apply the concepts being introduced so that I would really learn them. This is an excellent book to use and follow and will help any student who is taking an introductory management course to successfully learn the material.
• Review:: 'Fundmntls of Management: Essential Concepts and Applications I used this book in my Fundamentals of Management course at Harlaxton College. Of the two textbooks used for this class, I thought this one was much more useful. My favorite aspects were the definitions in the margins, the quizzes at the end of each chapter and the various exhibits throughout the chapters. I felt these learning tools made taking notes easier, let me see what exactly I did and did not know about the material and helped me better understand some of the more difficult concepts being taught. I also enjoyed the short "real world" managerial examples at the beginning of each chapter. I felt these stories helped me ease into the material I was about to read and give it a little more meaning in an outside the classroom situation. Overall, I found this textbook as helpful and informative.
