      • Review:: 'The Sonoma Diet I found this book to be an easy guide to better health. The food is fresh, easy to prepare, very tasty and the ingredients easy to find. It's very colorful on the plate and reminds me of gourmet meals pictured in magazines or served in fine restaurants. In four weeks my husband and I lost a total of 31 lbs., were never hungry, rarely ate the daily snacks, and his cholesterol fell within the normal range. My key to losing my 50 pounds on the Zone diet was eating the proper portion of carbs to protein to control my insulin release this diet mirrors this in more easier many than the zone block method. It recommends 10 power foods bell peppers, Almonds, broccoli,grapes, strawberries,whole grains, spinach, blueberries,tomatoes, and olive oil, these foods are a great way to spend your calories and get the most bang for your buck. The diet consists of 3 waves: Wave 1 very focused, lean meats, whole grains and vegetables only for 10 days. Wave 2 add fruits and wine now that you have kicked the sugar habit you will stay here until you have reached your ideal weight. Wave 3 you have reached your ideal weight, you go from filling the food on your plate in sections to just eye balling it you can loosen up and have special treats like cake and candy on special occasions. This book covers all the bases of nutrition and weight loss, I have read 50 books on nutrition and highly recommend this one.It is one of the best.
